The SMSRCC, which represents more than 90,000 members in Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon and Alaska, has chosen to support Funk's campaign, due to her unparalleled commitment to working families, economic development, and affordable housing.

In expressing their support for Funk's candidacy, Manley McNinch, Vice President of Carpenters Local 805 and a Political Deputy for the SWMSRCC said, “We expect that by working together we can create a better quality of life for all members of our community, including women, veterans, youth, and disadvantaged residents. Funk's commitment to addressing the realities of affordable housing, homelessness, water resources, public safety, and infrastructure has resonated deeply with voters, and this latest endorsement reinforces the growing support for Funk's vision for a stronger, more prosperous San Luis Obispo County.

In accepting the endorsement, she said, "I’m grateful to have the support of the SMSRCC. I will continue to advocate strongly for the next generation of families by working hard to bring more affordable housing as well as good paying jobs to San Luis Obispo County, so that our children can have a future here, too."

The County Supervisor election is set to take place on March 5, 2024, and with SMSRCC backing, Funk is eager to continue engaging with voters and communities across San Luis Obispo County, sharing her vision and listening to the concerns and aspirations of the people.
